Home sales have been increasing during the 2014 year while homes sale prices have leveled off finally from a long slide of declines for over five years. Trends for the active retirement communities still show the majority are buying with cash especially since retaining a mortgage has been much more difficult over that last year or so. Most seniors still need to sell their existing home to move which is still challenging when it takes an average of 8 -12 months to sell your existing home unless you are heavily discounted. Inventory still remains high and we are now seeing more short sales in retirement communities which is something this market has been relatively shielded from. Overall price is your number one factor in the successful sale of a home.
